That's how we like to expand the paintings from their frames and into the whole decorative scheme of an interior, including interior robes with the same patterns to be worn inside, but also, outside, as coats.
DRAFT DRAWING PROTOTYPE DRYING UP FINISHED FABRIC
Stages in the elaboration of the finished fabric in occasion of a special, custom-made project.

Researching from archives, paintings, the client's personal documents, first drafts with charcoal and establishing the right scale and repeat for the panel or the room. Then we go on into the elaboration of the final drawing, working parallely between the graphic rendering so as to establish the final esthetic aspect, on paper, and the final technical drawing to be photo-engraved onto screens or cut into stencils, wood, etc...

Once ready for printing, we go through an exhaustive seance of colour trials in the lab. We work on prototypes which are then going straight to the client for approuval or feedback. After a few of these exchanges we get ready for production and finishing. With oil-painting projects, the initial phase of research is much shorter as we can directly go from sketch to painting, the result being much more controllable. The execution is a bit slower, though. Both oil-painting and hand-printing from the atelier as custom-made projects give a very refined and authentic aspect to the fabrics, mainly because of the ancient recipes and techniques we still employ.
